ALIN Citizen Journalism Training Workshop Kick start

       Arid Land Information Network (ALIN) a Non Governmental Organization this year received United Nature Development Programme (UNDP)  for Global Environment Fund Small Grant Programme (GEF SGP) to promote knowledge sharing among all NGOs grantees working on Natural Resource Management or Sustainable Landscape Management in Laikipia County.     To fulfill the mandate ALIN organized a three days training workshop from 22-24 July 2014 that took place at Olympia Hotel in Nyahururu.   Total of 14 participants from different organization were in attendance, 10 men and 4 were women. They were under through information gathering, analyzing and dissemination to improve their skill specifically on citizen journalism.

            The training was mainly facilitated by knowledgeable resource person, Anthony and Bob. The two facilitators from time to time engaged participants’ participation through practical, questions as well as giving chance for experience sharing.  The areas covered included differentiation of citizen journalism and general journalism, elements of news and good creative news writing.


    The expectation of the workshop is that all presented organizations immediately after training will open their own blogs to share news of their work and progress. They NGOs are also expected to be share the news with ALIN for wider sharing.
